The challenge
Change the system.
Respect the work.
The client's platform brings together prescriptions, orders, fulfillment, invoicing, and partner workflows. Improving one part means understanding the business rules and dependencies around it.
What made it complex
Different users need different views and permissions. Existing records and workflow behavior need to remain meaningful as interfaces, application boundaries, and underlying code change.
What Octo worked on
A modern application foundation
Upgraded the application to .NET 10 and introduced a standalone customer API host alongside the Web application, sharing the underlying business and data layers.
Tools shaped around the operator
Developed role-scoped dashboards, prescription queue workflows, and responsive order screens so the application can present the work relevant to each role.
Reporting that connects the details
Added order reconciliation exports that bring order, invoice, and pricing information into a structured workbook for operational review.
Changes with continuity in mind
Extracted focused parts of the existing code and added targeted tests around permissions, data access, workflow behavior, and reports.
The resulting capability
An upgraded application foundation, a dedicated customer API, role-specific operational views, and reconciliation reporting—all developed within the existing platform.
Modernization is most useful when it improves the work people need to do today and makes tomorrow's changes easier to understand.
